Update: Upcoming Reviews & More!

Hi friends! It's been a busy week, and I haven't had much time to read—much less put a formal review together about the things that I did read.

However, I have lots of books lined up and ready to go, so I wanted to share the books that I'm planning to read and review over the next few weeks in hopes that maybe you can read along with me! I have a Discord server called The Library where we chat about all things books, so be sure to join me on there if you haven't already. It'll be a great place to get a discussion going, and my community of fellow book nerds and I would love to have you!

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”

Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

The Lost Bookshop, by Evie Woods: This book (really, all of the books listed here) was a Christmas gift.

While I wasn't familiar with the book or even the author, I immediately fell in love with the cover art. The synopsis teases a disappearing bookshop that may or may not actually exist, and seems to serve as a portal to a magical world. Count me in!

I'll be tearing into this one next, so pick up a copy and take the journey with me, if you feel so inclined.

The Only One Left, Riley Sager: This one has been on my TBR list ever since I heard it was coming out! I was a huge fan of Sager's Final Girls and have been eager to check out more of his writing.

This one involves a decades-old unsolved murder with one survivor who never stopped denying her innocence. Nearly fifty years later, now mute from a stroke, Lenora Hope decides it's finally time to tell her story.

Be sure to prepare yourself, because if I've learned anything about Sager's writing, it's this: whatever you think is about to happen, you're wrong.

This Book is Full of Spiders and What the Hell Did I Just Read, by Jason Pargin: The second and third installments in the wild ride of a series kicked off by John Dies at the End, I'm honestly not sure what to expect with either of these.

All I know is that I'm in for a crazy journey, and so are you if you decide to read along!

Be sure to give John Dies at the End a read first, though, otherwise you're gonna have no idea what's happening (you probably still won't, because I didn't—but I digress).

Ghost Eaters and Whisper Down the Lane, by Clay McLeod Chapman: While I wasn't familiar with this author at all, the covers and theme of both books intrigued me. As far as I can tell, the two books are not connected.

Ghost Eaters involves the discovery of a drug that allows its user to see the dead. However, it may have opened a door that can't be closed.

Whisper Down the Lane is inspired by the notorious Satanic Panic of the 1980's, after a schoolyard lie goes entirely too far. Years later, this dark past comes back to haunt those involved, and someone is going to have to pay the price.

Whisper Down the Lane also has a rave review from Riley Sager, so naturally, I love it already. I'm excited to crack into both of these, and hopefully, you are too!

“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.”

William Styron, Conversations with William Styron

I'm so excited to dig into these over the next few weeks, and I hope you'll follow—or even read—along with me!

Next, I want to hear from you: What are some of your favorite books? What would you like to see me review this year? As much as I love reviewing books, I also love writing about important topics in the reading world—what are some topics that you think I should address?

Be sure to join me on Discord so we can chat about all these things and so many more, and let's dive into an adventure within the pages together. I look forward to seeing you!
